The importance of hypoallergenic and antibacterial fabrics

In a particular historical moment like the one we are experiencing, today more than ever the attention to what we eat, touch and wear is very high. The importance of protecting ourselves from the contagion of viruses means that our choices must be increasingly ethical and attentive to our health and to that of people around us.

Among the aspects that we can consider useful to protect ourselves is certainly the use of hypoallergenic and antibacterial fabrics, able to reduce the exposure of our body to possible bacterial agents and at the same time give us a feeling of well-being and lightness on the skin.

We at ProtoXtype have always strongly believed in the value that these two specific aspects have in the search for fabrics to make our garments. Ecological, sustainable and protective materials: the perfect mix for supportive and attentive clothing.

Our organic fabrics

ORGANIC COTTON Cotton, or rather organic cotton, has hypoallergenic and antibacterial characteristics that make it very useful also in the health field and for children, even very young ones. Babies have always been dressed in cotton clothing, precisely because of its breathability and delicacy on the skin. Furthermore, we at ProtoXtype are particularly careful to use organic cotton for our collections, because it is 100% natural and the result of crops that do not use pesticides in the cultivation of botanical species, nor any type of GMO, herbicides or chemical fertilizers, but only and exclusively organic fertilizers.

SILK According to some recent studies, silk turns out to be, when combined with cotton, one of the best materials also for the manufacture of protective masks. In fact, in the realization of the masks, the silk works as an electrostatic barrier that blocks what could still have escaped the first obstacle, namely the cotton. In the case of the creation of garments, on the other hand, contrary to what one might think given its innate elegance, it is ideal for making more technical and sporty garments. It is light, breathable, hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Through a manufacturing process, we at ProtoXtype also love to use its waterproof variant, same qualities but in addition it is a perfect rainproof. In short, protecting yourself with style and attention is the first step to fight together the great health emergency that is affecting all of us, the choice of ethical and functional fabrics such as hypoallergenic and antibacterial ones is very much in demand.
