GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)

GOTSis an international textile processing standard for natural and organic fibers This certificate includes several ecological and social criteria, such as:

• Prohibition of critical inputs such as toxic heavy metals, formaldehyde, aromatic solvents, functional nano particles, genetically modified organisms and their enzymes;
• Bleaches must be based on oxygen (no chlorine bleaching);
• Azo dyes that release carcinogenic amine compounds are prohibited;
• Prohibition of contamination of the soil, groundwater and the atmosphere;
• All operators must comply with an environmental protection policy with precise objectives and procedures aimed at minimizing consumption and discharges;
• The waste water from all wet processing units must be treated through a functional water treatment plant;
• Prohibition of forced labor;
• Freedom of association and right to collective bargaining;
• Health and safety in the workplace;
• No exploitation of child labor;
• Wages adequate to ensure decent living conditions;
• Not excessive hours of work;
• Regularity of recruitment;
